LAS VEGAS (IHCT) –  Police shot at a robbery suspect during a vehicle pursuit on Thursday night. 

According to police, at around 7:20 pm on August 11th, 2022, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Air Unit were surveilling a suspect who had committed a robbery earlier in the year. 

They observed the suspect steal a car at gunpoint. Police began a pursuit after the suspect. When officers arrived at Craig Road and North 5th Street, the suspect fired at them. Officers returned fire and the pursuit continued. 

The suspect then ended up on Decatur Boulevard and Desert Inn Road, where he tried to take another car at gunpoint. The suspect failed to get the car and got back into his vehicle. Police fired at the vehicle again. 

The suspect then fled northbound on Decatur Boulevard toward Charleston Boulevard. That’s when the suspect collided with a police K-9 unit. 

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital.
