A person was shot by police after charging after an officer.

The incident occurred near Main Street and Foremaster Lane at around noon on Mar. 14.

According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Capt. Carlos Hank, police were on routine patrol when they observed an altercation involving two people in the 1500 block of North Main Street.

When an officer attempted to deescalate the situation, one of the suspects started to charge at the officer.

The officer retrieved his baton and issued verbal commands to the subject. The suspect retrieved an item from his pocket and placed it in his hand as if it were a weapon.

The suspect continued towards the officer and the officer continued to retreat, while continuing to give verbal commands to the suspect.

The officer then fell during the retreat, and the suspect continued towards the officer. The officer then pulled his gun and shot at the suspect.

The suspect was hit and taken into custody. The suspect was then taken to a hospital without life threatening injuries.

The officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
